Minimum requirements to list a stolen object
Instruments and Bows must be in the Violin Family

Police file number A Police file number may be critical in quick recovery of a stolen object. If no police file was obtained, state that as well.  
Police Department. Being able to quickly contact the correct Police Officer can help recover a stolen object.  Name the city and address of Police Station. Police telephone number.  Email address if available. Contact person. 
Description of goods.
(To the right are examples of the kind of descriptions to help identify your instrument or bow quickly)

-Name of instrument or bow maker.
-Date on label or certificate.
-Location of maker, extra information on label or certificate.
-Mountings such as boxwood pegs, tailpiece, chinrest, etc.
-Color of varnish. Visible cracks or blemishes.
-Available measurements will be very useful.

Bows should be described as to their mountings, eg: silver on ebony, gold on ivory, face plate material, winding at the grip, octagon or round shaft, name on brand, etc.

Include all instruments and bows stolen at the same time, including description of case.

Location of theft or loss Location of loss or theft is very important. Provide best description you can.
Photos of articles If you have photos of articles, you will be asked to provide them via a separate email. Good quality photos can be published and may aid in the recovery.
Recovery contact name if different from owner. Please let us know if the person responsible for the recovery is different from the person listing.

 

 

In addition to notifying your local law enforcement authority of the theft of instruments of the violin family and bows, you may want to consider also notifying others of your loss.
